He was the former senior partner with one of Australia’s largest firms of architects that was responsible for many of the landmark buildings in Brisbane. He has been associated with Sabina’s work since 1978. Mr. Ellwood has recently retired from full time architecture and is now providing consultancy services on a limited basis only.

He is in private practice as an educationalist. In the 1980's, he pioneered commercial hydroponics in South East Queensland. He then went on to become a research scholar with the University of Queensland, and after completing his PhD., he founded the King's Christian College at Mudgeeraba in 1991. He left King's in 2003 to pursue his private business in education software.

He has been a leader and innovator in marketing and sales of hospitality, real estate, resorts and timeshare since 1973. He has advised and worked with some of the most successful firms in these fields and has been responsible for creating many of the innovative marketing concepts. He lectures worldwide at universities, trade conferences, corporations, and has been interviewed in radio and television as an industry spokesperson in United States and Europe.

He is in private practice as an international corporate consultant specialising in providing senior strategic management and business advice to board / CEO level. He is currently developing opportunities in China covering a wide range of areas including investment banking services, acquisitions and mergers, enterprise negotiations, and assisting western companies to establish cross-cultural relationships in China. For over 30 years he carried out a variety of functional roles in Australia and overseas for the Westpac Banking Corporation including general management, strategic planning, human resources, finance, and information technology. His ultimate full time role at Westpac was as General Manager for the State of New South Wales, leading a business with over 10,000 employees and $19 billion in assets. He is currently a director of Resimac Limited, OzzyConnect Limited, and a number of private companies. He is also a member of the Australia Fiji Business Council and the Australia China Business Council.

Between 1988 -1990 he was Vice-President with Citicorp Investment Bank in New York; recruited to build up Citicorp’s cross-border M&A business between the U.S. and the Pacific Rim with particular responsibility for Australia and New Zealand. In 1991 he established his own consultancy firm in Adelaide to provide corporate advisory services in respect to the financial and strategic aspects of corporate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reconstructions, leveraged but-outs, back door listings, and proxy contests. He also served for about 8 years on the board of listed Southern Equity Holdings Limited. Mr. Hayward is still in private practice as a corporate adviser.

After graduating in the mid-70’s, he held various computing, accounting, secretarial, and management positions in a number of private organizations in Northern Queensland. During this period, he has also written computer programs in several languages and introduced PCs and built LAN networks. In 1996, he graduated with an MBA from the University of Queensland and is currently a member of the Alumni Association. He now lectures part-time at the UQ and has a keen interest in corporate governance issues and politics.
